Volunteer Patrols

Program Description:

The Volunteer Patrol program includes: Foot, Bike and Pooch Patrol. Patrols act as the Eyes and Ears for the neighbourhood. Volunteer Patrol provides you with the training to identify suspicious and/or criminal activity in a safe, non-confrontational manner and how to write official reports to enhance the safety of the community and aid the VPD and our Neighbourhood Police Officer in strategies for crime prevention in Strathcona. Trainings include, but are not limited to: Naloxone administration and overdose awareness, conflict resolution, scenario training, report writing and others.

Program Highlights:

  • Working with the VPD and City of  Vancouver to address criminal and suspicious activity
  • Issue Crime Prevention Notices and Crime Alerts to keep citizens informed of neighbourhood safety concerns and crime stats
  • Connecting marginalized populations with social services
  • Ensuring auto insurance is up to date for residents and visitors to Strathcona
